Supervision That Shapes the Clinician You Become
At Fresh Breath Therapy, we believe supervision is far more than logging hours toward licensure. The quality of your supervision shapes the clinician you become - how you conceptualize cases, how you navigate ethical gray areas, how you document your work, and how you care for yourself so you can keep caring for others.
Early-career clinical work is demanding. You're carrying a full caseload, learning the realities of practice, and preparing for full licensure all at once. Our supervision gives you a structured, reflective space to work through difficult cases, sharpen your clinical documentation, prevent burnout before it starts, and build genuine confidence in your clinical judgment.
Whether you're just beginning your supervised hours or nearing the finish line, we meet you where you are professionally - supportive, honest, and invested in your growth as a clinician.

What Your Supervision Sessions Will Cover
Supervision at Fresh Breath Therapy is structured and substantive - designed to develop the full range of skills you need as a fully licensed clinician.
Case Conceptualization
Learn to see the whole picture - integrating presenting concerns, history, systems, and strengths into clear, useful clinical formulations that guide effective treatment.
Ethics & Legal Standards
Work through real ethical dilemmas from your caseload - confidentiality, dual relationships, duty to warn, and NC-specific legal standards - in a safe space.
Clinical Documentation
Progress notes, assessments, and records that meet professional and board standards. Documentation habits you build now will serve your entire career.
Treatment Planning
Develop measurable, client-centered treatment plans - and learn to revise them thoughtfully as clients progress, stall, or change direction.
Working with Difficult Cases
High-risk clients, complex trauma, stuck treatment, ruptures in the therapeutic relationship - bring your hardest cases and leave with a clearer path forward.
Therapist Self-Care & Burnout Prevention
Early-career clinicians are especially vulnerable to compassion fatigue. We address your sustainability as directly as your clients' progress.
Building Your Clinical Identity
What kind of clinician do you want to be? Explore your theoretical orientation, therapeutic style, and professional values as they take shape.
Licensure Hour Tracking & Board Paperwork
Accurate supervision logs and signed documentation of your completed hours, ready for board submission when you apply for full licensure.
Career Development
Specialization, private practice, agency work, leadership - supervision is also the place to think through where your career goes after licensure.
Structured, Supportive, and Focused on Your Growth
No two supervisees are at the same place in their development. Our supervision blends structure with flexibility so every session moves you forward.
Strengths-Based Supervision
We start with what you're already doing well and build from there - supervision that develops confidence rather than eroding it.
Case-Review Format
Bring active cases to every session. We work through assessment, formulation, interventions, and clinical decision-making together, in depth.
Skill Modeling & Feedback
Direct, specific, actionable feedback on your clinical work - plus modeling of techniques, language, and approaches you can use in your next session.
Ethics-First Guidance
Ethical reasoning woven into every discussion, so sound judgment becomes instinct - not something you look up after the fact.
Documentation Coaching
Ongoing review of your notes, assessments, and treatment plans - so your records are clinically useful and hold up to professional scrutiny.
Professional Identity Development
Supervision as a space to become - clarifying your orientation, your voice, and the kind of clinician you're growing into.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who needs clinical supervision in North Carolina?+
Associate-level clinicians working toward full North Carolina licensure are required by their licensing boards to complete supervised clinical hours with a qualified supervisor. If you hold an associate-level license and are accruing hours toward full licensure, ongoing clinical supervision is a required part of your path.
Which license tracks do you provide supervision for?+
We provide clinical supervision for LCSWAs working toward full LCSW licensure and for associate-level clinical mental health counselors working toward LCMHC licensure. If you're on a different track, contact us at (919) 300-6717 and we'll let you know whether we can support your specific supervision requirements.
What is the difference between individual and group supervision?+
Individual supervision is a one-on-one session focused exclusively on your caseload and professional development. Group supervision brings several supervisees together with a supervisor - offering peer learning and diverse perspectives on clinical challenges. Many supervisees use a mix of both; we'll help you structure a combination that meets your board's requirements.
Can I do supervision virtually?+
Yes. We offer virtual supervision via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform, as well as in-person sessions at our Raleigh office at 4913 Professional Ct. Many supervisees use a hybrid approach - in-person when convenient, virtual when their schedule requires it. The supervision relationship stays consistent either way.
How do you handle hour tracking and board paperwork?+
We start with a written supervision agreement that outlines goals, format, frequency, and documentation. Throughout supervision, we maintain accurate logs of your completed hours and provide signed documentation ready for board submission when you apply for full licensure. We also recommend verifying your exact hour requirements directly with your licensing board.
How much does clinical supervision cost?+
Rates vary by format - individual and group supervision are priced differently, and group supervision is often the more affordable option. Contact us at (919) 300-6717 or admin@freshbreaththerapy.com and we'll walk you through current rates and help you find the format that fits your budget and requirements.
